This Week’s Watch: 7/17 – 7/23

Every week I am planning on highlighting a show, movie, or episode of an anime I watched over the past week.  Sometimes they will be long rants, or sometimes something short and sweet.  So this week’s is:

(Please don’t see me as a broken record.  Spin me right round right round right round…)

These are really interesting when they happen
Baka and Test

Just like my review, Baka and Test is really a mixed bag.  Parts of it, like the one pictured above, really is interesting with the battling system.  Some parts are as flat as Minami’s chest.  So there really isn’t much more for me to say about the series.  I am personally looking forward to the next series coming out (Currently airing in Japan during the time of this typing), but I am not dying to see this like I was with The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Season 2.  I can wait for Funimation to release it and then be both amazed and disappointed.  Rarely do I have split feelings for a series like this, I mean usually I have a prevailing opinion such as: “Overall, the series is excellent” or “This series could have been better”.  This one I really am split between “This is great” and “This is stupid fanservice”.

The different styles of fights are interesting. Notice the lack of fanservice in my choice of pics.
There is a main reason why I am featuring this anime yet again.  My personal life and work schedule are getting hairy so this may be a light week of anime.  I did watch another, which I may catch some more of this week, but that may have to be saved for next week’s entry.  Once in a while I get into what I call a drought period (Which is what is physically happening in my neck of the woods, no pun intended) in which I don’t really get anything new nor do I feel adventurous enough to try another series.  I tried watching Neon Genesis Evangelion, but every time I try to watch an episode, either the player crashes, browser crashes, or I accidentally clear out that tab in my browser.  It’s almost like it’s a sign.

The good news is that I should be getting some more series soon.  I pre-ordered the latest adventures of an alien frog troupe trying to take over
Pekopon
Earth and also recently ordered another certain series that is critically acclaimed and considered one of the best anime titles to get newcomers into enjoying anime.  It’s odd how people can be enamored in a serial killer, but I think just watching the psychological cat-and-mouse chase is more why people enjoy it.

So what series did you enjoy this week?  Comment below!
